Partner Family Applications Now Open

Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County is currently accepting Partner Family applications through September 30.

If you dream of owning a safe, affordable home and are willing to partner with Habitat through sweat equity, homeownership education, and an affordable mortgage, we encourage you to apply.

To be considered, completed applications must be received by September 30.

Qualifications for Habitat homeownership program

The Habitat homeownership program includes financial counseling and home maintenance education that gives buyers the tools to be successful in this life-changing endeavor.

We look for three things when determining eligible applicants: need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner. A family with these three things must meet income guidelines, program requirements, and the mandatory details needed to qualify for a mortgage.

Basic requirements:

• You must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
• You must be a current resident of Johnson County and have lived in Johnson County for the past 12 months.
• Attend classes and regular budget meetings.
• If married, you must apply with your spouse.
• Need for shelter: You must be able to demonstrate a need for adequate housing, including but not limited to: overcrowding, structural deficiencies, and unsafe or unsanitary conditions.
• Ability to pay: You must have an income that falls within 30% to 80% of the area median income for Johnson County, as determined by HUD income limits published each year.
• Willingness to partner: You must complete 200 “sweat equity” (aka, volunteer) hours prior to closing on the home. If approved, all adult (18 years and older) members in your household must complete 200 volunteer hours.

   3. Drop off at the Habitat ReStore during business hours on Friday (10 am to 6 pm) and Saturday (noon to 4 pm) located at 6720 N. US 31, Whiteland, IN 46184
